Maverick Publishing Specialists Adds Three Senior Consultants

Maverick Publishing Specialists Ltd. announced today that three Senior Consultants have joined the company’s global network of industry specialists. The newest additions bring a wealth of senior level academic, e-learning and EdTech publishing experience, and further strengthen the company’s ability to support its clients’ strategic and operational needs across a wide range of developing industry trends.

Amanda Weaver, Senior Associate

Amanda brings to Maverick over three decades of STM, B2B, and professional association publishing experience. She was most recently Director, Professional Publishing and e-Learning at the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) where she oversaw IET Academy, their leading e-learning offering. She has also served as Publisher and Publishing Director for Elsevier.

Amanda’s wide-ranging experience includes managing journal and book programmes, magazine launches, and standards/good practice publishing. She has a strong track record of winning society publishing contracts, developing and launching e-products, running RFP and tender exercises, and specifying and implementing new publishing systems.

Ed Newman, Senior Associate

Ed is a publishing professional with over 10 years of experience in journals with a focus on Open Access (OA). In his career, he has helped partners implement OA growth strategies for subscription journals, transition to OA business models, and move from print to electronic-only.

With the use of data analytics, Ed also provides expert guidance on how best to commission new content, engage with a broad geographic market, and take journals to the top of their disciplines. At SAGE Publications he worked with numerous societies covering engineering, materials science, and clinical medicine.

Jane Anderson, Senior Associate

Jane comes to Maverick from EdTech leader, Group GTI where, as Operations Director, she was instrumental in its rapid growth in Europe. Her areas of expertise include cross-functional team development, change management, and embedding new technologies and workflow best practices to improve efficiency and quality control.
Jane also has a strong marketing skillset, including brand strategy, messaging, positioning, go-to-market plans, and user research. She is adept at providing guidelines, tools, frameworks, and strategy for consistent brand and market recognition across all touch points.
